The aim of our sustainability efforts is not only to avoid a negative impact, but rather to generate a positive effect on people and the environment wherever possible. We actively seek new and innovative ways to achieve that – both for us as a company and in our collaborations with partners.

“Act4Impact” is the motto under which we bundle all collaborative activities. These include promoting the exchange of information through training courses and workshops, maintaining long-term partnerships, tracking implementation measures among our suppliers – and continuously enabling more sustainable operations at all levels.

Training and workshops for suppliers

Saving CO₂ takes priority in the Audi sustainability strategy. That is why our suppliers are not only involved in developing appropriate measures, but also receive stimuli for savings potentials in their own supply chain via our training offer.

This aim of an exchange based on a spirit of partnership is also the reason behind the training courses that focus on the S-Rating. Here, we want to provide our suppliers with the best possible insight into the S-Rating as well as its instruments and core elements. We also provide tips on dealing with the relevant tools (self-assessment questionnaire, on-site check etc.). The main motivation behind this is to empower precisely those partners who have not yet been able to show a satisfactory result – for them and for us.

In 2020, we developed online training courses to train our suppliers in shorter sessions on our requirements and how to implement them. The format was offered in English, German and Spanish. More than 950 supplier employees participated in 2020.

Offer for our employees in procurement

The aim of the training and workshop offer is to bring the entire team on board. As part of our holistic approach, employees in procurement are also incorporated into the program of events. Thus, there are dedicated web-based training courses (WBTs) on the topics of the S-Rating and Code of Conduct for business partners as well as separate CO₂ training courses for employees in procurement. For example, 99.9% of our employees in procurement completed the WBT on the S-Rating in 2020. Face-to-face training courses for the entire team round out the offer.

Only a partnership-based, holistic understanding of our responsibility enables the positive effects for people and the environment that we are striving for. Beyond the training courses and possibilities for professional development above, partners also have the opportunity to participate in an extended range of workshops through the Volkswagen Group.
